Imagine this scenario:
I've completed the shipment preparation but waited an entire day without the LTL pickup truck arriving. Why did this happen? It turns out, the truck driver thought we were closed, so they didn't come for pickup, delaying us a whole day... Have you ever encountered such a situation?
If you frequently ship LTL (Less Than Truckload) pallets, you might encounter similar issues.
These problems often stem from several possible reasons:
Early Pickup Appointment:
For LTL shipments, drivers typically start their day with a truck full of deliveries scheduled for the morning. They need to clear these before having the capacity to start pickups in the afternoon. If your pickup is scheduled early, say between 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the driver might assume your warehouse closes by 11:00 AM and skip your pickup.
Failed Pickup Reservation:
Sometimes, despite creating BOL, the pickup reservation with the carrier doesn't go through. It's crucial to confirm if you've received a pick-up number from the carrier after generating your BOL; only then is your pickup reservation confirmed.
Afternoon Pickup with Pick-up Number, but LTL driver still No Show:
Even with an afternoon pickup and a pick-up number, the driver might still not show up. This could be due to the truck being full from previous stops or heavy traffic preventing them from reaching you before your closing time. In such cases, rescheduling for the next day may be necessary.
For shipping companies, providing on-time LTL pickup services isn't always guaranteed. Therefore, as users of these services, we can adopt strategies to ensure smooth shipping operations:
1.Schedule pickups in the afternoon.
2.Confirm the pick-up number promptly.
3.Arrange shipments early to avoid delays caused by missed pickups.
By learning and drawing insights from others' experiences, we can navigate the shipping process more efficiently, ensuring every shipment arrives at its destination smoothly!
