Sometimes you realize that a USPS package was sent to the wrong address and you want to have it returned. How can you do that?
Step 1: Log in to USPS.com
First, log in to your USPS.com account. If you don’t have one, click Register in the top right corner to create an account.
Then, go to the Receive tab and select Intercept a Package.

Step 2: Check Package Eligibility
Enter the tracking number in the provided field to check whether the package is eligible for return or other actions. Each package is different, so this step is necessary to determine what options are available.

If the result says: “Unfortunately, this item is ineligible for USPS Package Intercept®.” — it means this package cannot be redirected or modified.
If the result allows further actions (like the image shown), click Create Request.

Step 3: Choose the Action
Enter the recipient’s information, then choose the action you want: Return to sender or Hold For Pickup at Post Office, then click Next.

Step 4: Confirm the Information
On the Confirmation Page, review the return method and all relevant details. If everything is correct, click Continue.
Step 5: Completion
On the Completion Page, you will see a message confirming that the package intercept request has been successfully submitted.
